History of Donald Estes and Estes Construction & Woodworking LLC

I started working full time as a carpenter helper in 1972, and quickly progressed to a full fledged carpenter. After working for various contractors and cabinet makers in Marion County, Florida, and doing woodworking and cabinetry projects in my spare time, I took the contractors exam in 1982 and passed.

In 1983, I activated my contractors license and started Estes Construction & Woodworking. At first we did mostly home construction and remodeling. In the course of most remodeling jobs there was a need for a few cabinets. The cabinet shops at the time were too busy for 1 or 2 cabinets, they only wanted to build a whole house full of cabinets. So we started building a few cabinets at a time for our remodeling projects. Before long, most of the calls for work were for cabinet and woodworking projects. By 1990 the cabinet and woodworking jobs had gotten too big for the home wood shop, so we rented a small commercial space.

Over the years we have acquired more and better equipment to do the work faster, more efficiently, and with better quality than when we first started. Also over the years, knowledge and expertise has vastly increased to the point that we feel we can build anything out of wood and do a very high quality job. In 2007 we built our current shop of 6,400 square feet, in Ocala, Florida. Come by, visit, see the quality of our work, and let us build your next furniture or cabinet project.
